Before you jump to Coffee Cake recipe, you may want to read this short interesting healthy tips about Finding Healthy Fast Food.
Almost every single article about weight loss and getting healthy tells readers to avoid drive through windows like the plague and to carry out all of their own cooking. There’s some benefit to that. Once in a while, though, you absolutely do not want to make a full meal for your family or even just for yourself. Sometimes you just would like to reach the drive through along the way home and call it a day. There is zero reason you shouldn’t be able to make it happen once in a while and be free of the guilt usually associated with “diet slips”. You are able to do this because many of the popular joints are now marketing “healthy” menu options to keep their businesses up. Here’s how it is possible to eat healthfully when you’re at a fast food spot.
Aim for the side dishes. It wasn’t so long ago that French Fries were your sole side dish choice at a restaurant. Today the vast majority of the most popular fast food franchises have increased their products. Now lots of them provide salads. You can get chili. You might get baked potatoes. Fruit is generally offered. There are many healthy options that do not include things like putting something deep fried into your body. Instead of the pre-determined “meal deals” make an effort to make a meal out of side dishes. When you are doing this you may keep your fat content and calorie counts low.
Traditional logic tells us that one certain way to get healthy and lose fat is to skip the drive through and to remove fast food restaurants from your thoughts. Most of the time this is a good idea but if you make great choices, there is no reason you can’t visit your drive through once in a while. Sometimes what you need is to let other people make your dinner. If you decide on healthy things, the shame usually associated with hitting the drive through shouldn’t be so bad.

- Provide 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- Take 1/2 tsp xanthum gum
- Prepare 2 egg whites
- Provide 3/4 cup sour cream
- Take 1/2 cup soymilk
- Use 1 tbsp canola oil
- Provide 1/4 cup gluten-free all purpose flour
- Take 2 tbsp firmly packed light brown sugar
- Provide 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- Get 2 tbsp chilled margarine, cut into small pieces
Steps to make Coffee Cake:
- Preheat oven to 375°F. Spray an 8" springform pan with cooking spray & set aside.
- To prepare topping, in a small bowl, combine 1/4 cup all purpose flour, brown sugar, & 1 tsp cinnamon. Using a pastry blender or 2 knives, cut in margarine until coarse crumbs form. Set aside.
- To prepare cake, in medium bowl, combine 2 1/4 cup all purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, xanthum gum & 1 tsp cinnamon. Mix well.
- In large bowl, whisk egg whites, sour cream, soy milk, & oil. Add flour mixture; stir until just combined. Spoon batter into prepared pan.
- Sprinkle topping over top of batter. (Mine didn't come out as a crumble, due to a little extra butter & stirring to much, so I made mine a swirl in the top. I just spooned it on top of the batter & swirled it around).
- Bake until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean, about 40 minutes. Place pan on cooling rack; cool for 10 minutes. Remove side of pan; cool completely.
