- You need For batter
- Provide 2 cups parboiled rice
- Get 1 cup whole white urad
- Get 1 tsp whole fenugreek seeds

Steps to make Onion utappam:
- Wash parboiled rice with fenugreek seeds..3-4 times in water. Soak in water for 6 hours. Wash white whole urad 5-6 times with water and soak in enough water for 6 hours. In wet grinder first grind soaked white urad for 5 mins,add soaked parboiled rice- fenugreek seeds in it and again grind to little coarse mixture.Pour it in large steel container..leave it covered overnight..it will be double in size in morning. Add salt and mix well.
- Peel and chopped thinely red onions, finely grate ginger, finely chopped green chillies & fresh coriander leaves…Mix it.. keep aside.
- Heat nonstick dosa tawa. Apply1tsp oil on it,wipe it off with tissue paper. Pour 2 laddle full of batter spread it into thick 6" daimeter. Sprinkle onion- ginger- chillies- coriander leaves mixture..as shown. Sprinkle 1 tbsp ghee or butter. Cook on medium flame.
- As the downside of uttapam turns golden brown in colour,,flip over. Cook the other side for few minutes. Similarly prepared all onion uttapam from remaining batter.
- Serve/ relish Hot Onion Uttapam with coconut- coriander chutney and Hot Nescafé coffee for complete healthy breakfast on winter morning.
